Hellrosa House is a striking contemporary extension that has transformed a once dark and enclosed kitchen into a bright, welcoming living space with a bold architectural identity. Working with a distinctive design by Studio Octopi, the project involved demolishing the existing rear extension and external WC to make way for a predominantly glazed addition that reconnects the home with its garden.
The new structure combines exposed steelwork, expansive glazing and carefully executed architectural details. A slender steel column and large glazed pivot door create a light, open feel, while new windows and a redesigned galley kitchen bring additional daylight into the existing property. Particular attention was given to the junctions between materials, including the steel frames, plasterwork, terrazzo and bespoke concrete lintels, where precision and craftsmanship were essential to achieving the intended finish.
What makes Hellrosa House particularly memorable is its playful use of colour. Inspired by Andy Warhol’s 1975 screenprint of Mick Jagger, the candy-pink metalwork provides a striking contrast to the surrounding materials and garden greenery. The result is an imaginative architectural transformation that demonstrates how thoughtful design, technical construction and meticulous detailing can bring new life and personality to an existing home.
